The story of Pierre Bayle

1783: On February 2, 1783, Pierre Bayle was born in the village of Tourreilles in the Haute Vallée de l’Aude. At the age of 11, he began as a tambourine in the conflict between the Royalist Spain and the French Revolutionary armies. It will be raised “Small Drum” will lose the life on November 1, 1794 in Biure d’Emporda in Catalonia Spanish in the battle of Boulou. He becomes the first child troop dead for France at the Field of Honor and a symbol of the French army!

1997: After the sale of the family estate in northern Catalonia in 1994, our father has long sought to acquire vineyards on a quality terroir. The lucky winner was thus finally these 15 hectares of single vineyards located in Toureilles, in the Haute Vallée de l’Aude.

2003: Xavier takes over! We limit ourselves then to the work of vinegrower since we sell the grapes to cooperatives or particular cellars of the zone.

2014: We decide to make the leap and start our own winemaking. Having few means, and not wanting to endanger the property, we go small to see it coming. Domaine Petit Tambour is born in 2015, with our first vintage.
